Old Pictures

This is probably one of my favorite pictures. Showing a trader in the Gold Coast (Ghana), captured likely over 100 years ago:

Masai warriors, cool:

Interestingly, the Yemeni had dreadlocks before. Not uniquely African it seems:

You can tell the Arabs had a good lifestyle:

Ogaden warrior. The description mentioned how the mark on his shield was caused by a lion that killed the previous owner:

Scripts in Africa (1909-1937):

The picture was taken near a water hole in Ethiopia, showing how it was teeming with wildlife. It looks a bit unreal, out of a movie:

Interesting read very knowledgeable thread. Just wanted to point out the locks hairstyle is common in every culture. People’s hair do naturally lock due to improper up keep.

this looks like a scene straight out of the lion king. I did not know different species hung out together like that, wow

It is indeed interesting. I think what we’re seeing here is probably a photo taken by the water banks were all animals come together.

Yes, due to improper upkeep, hairs can lock. But I think this is only limited to some people that tilt on the African hair texture with at least some level of strong-curly/semi-coily hair, and it will look messy and not that consistent if you have seen those. You can observe the individual on the left deliberately twisting it; it is thus not a result of an unkempt condition. The aspect of stylized deliberation was my focus on that.
