Not only did they get hit by a 7.2 magnitude earthquake today. https://www.somalispot.com/threads/7-2-magnitude-earthquake-strikes-haiti.119937/#post-3050191 There is also a tropical storm on the way :wtf: Not even Somalia gets this unlucky! Haiti has suffered through violent revolution...
Remember studying this as a case study for my geography exam. Interestingly, in October there was Hurricane Tomas which was brushed by the country as a Category 1 hurricane with 80mph winds. It didn't make landfall so the worst of the winds stayed well off shore but that didn't stop heavy rains from causing widespread mudslides that made some roads once again impassible, flooding the refugee camp in Haiti and exacerbating the cholera outbreak. Another 35 people were killed in this storm which is high for a Category 1 that didn't make landfall.
