other black women

Is it just me but I feel some type of animosity towards me from black people, especially some women.
Some of my friends @ uni are Nigerian or adjacent, sometimes its gets awkward and im so convinced its due to my hair bc ill catch them staring at my hair for long periods of time or they'll make comments about my skin colour to make me seem less black.
I've never experienced the whole somali hate thing (I thought it was over now) bc I'm too young and have never gone to school with black people.
- not making this thread to hate on madhows

The years don't matter, the life in those years do
Their probably insecure honestly. Why, I don't know. Tell them how you feel though, bringing someone down because of your insecurities is not something a real friend would do.

From what I hear (i don't really interact with madows so i don't know) is jealousy towards our features and preservation of our culture

Whoever you are around will have animosity toward you. Xasidnimo knows no ethnicity. Trust me. Haters come from every persuasion.

I don't blame them as type 4 timo isn't glorified in the West. Even though it can be long and healthy. Also, madow men aren't uplifting them for their natural hair. Keep in mind that the mixed raced madow aesthetic is boosted relative to the non-ambiguous West-Central African look. They are merely projecting their dramas on you. Don't take it personally. Also, discontent with one's appearance has to be perpetuated for financial gain.

If you look hard enough every group has their cultural or racial baggage. Colourism, texturism, sizeism, featurism or lookism more broadly. For the less self-assured/insecure person its common to project insecurities on to you.

Lol this has happened to me recently. I have made a new friend and one thing I have noticed so far is that she tends to make a lot of weird comments about my hair and she'll constantly compare her hair to mine whenever the topic of hair comes up. For example, let's say she tells me she has to get her hair done but then she'll quickly say things unprovoked like, "but your hair is easy to manage so you wouldn't get it", "you don't have to worry about getting your hair done". It's the strangest thing ever because it's like I wonder what she wants me to say after that? Go along with her and say "well yeah I don't stress about my hair because I have good hair and you don't".

I just ignore it wallahi and I will try changing the subject to make things less awkward between us. Now this isn't something that will make me stop being friends with her because she's cool all the other times but it's something I have noticed and if these comments continue in the future then I will have a conversation with her about it.

I think your friend is insecure and is projecting. Maybe it's something she'll grow out of.

As an ADOS woman, if you encounter a black American woman who treats you with extreme animosity it’s normally because she’s trying to compete for the attention of a nignog. If she thinks you’re thicker or have “good hair” she’s worried her prized kang without a kangdom will prefer you.

I experienced that too, some girl stuck her hand in my hair to see if i had any tracks. Suffice to say she gave me a nasty look when she found out i was a natural babe. I even got comments on my nose too, i dont have the typical button nose i got a nice straight long nose. And back when i had piercings on my nose i used to get alot of compliments on my nose, i had a girl say i had an ethnic rhinoplasty which is y my nose looked so good with the piercings.
