wouldnt doubt that adal converted some of galbeed somalis. I doubt paganism in the interior was crushed like it was in the coast but the vid makes it seem like there was some massive pagan community around harar that got converted :farmajoyaab:

Solid video though its in the Ethiopian-Portuguese POV and he's relying on Portuguese sources who'll naturally downplay the native contribution and overstate the impact of the Ottoman support.

A major mistake is that at the end he forgot to mention that Nur ibn Mujahid defeated and killed Gelawdewos, avenging Imam Ahmed.

I agree, though he did say he will be making a series on this so there's room for growth and more info

@Factz email him lmao

This video was mostly about Ottoman vs Portuguese and completely rushed on the Abyssinian and Adal's side. I mean look at the comment section people are talking about the Ottomans and Portuguese. Just as @kobe pointed out he was mostly using Portuguese and Ottoman chronicles. He grossly over-exaggerated the Ottoman numbers. No mention of the Adalite army being the first Africans to use guns.

It would've been better if he focused on the Abyssinian-Adal war and then mention the Ottoman and Portuguese contributions but not dive into it deeply because you got to stay on the main topic and he could've neutralized the Somali and Amharic terms for left hand (Gurey and Gragn) by calling him Imam Ahmed instead. I feel like he could've done much better but that channel is mostly focused on major empires so it wasn't that surprising.
