PM Hamza Barre lays out the foundation of yet ANOTHER '5 star hotel'

Not good. Too many of these and not enough factories or manufacturing plants that would actually help the country progress. They say its for the foreign diplomats and investors to stay at but it is not a pressing issue honestly.

A small desalination plant in Mogadishu would have generated more revenue, but hey let's build a fancy cabinet on the sinking ship

Yeah, I totally agree that investing in factories and manufacturing makes way more sense than fancy hotels. But from their perspective, they probably see it as a way to attract investors. A luxury hotel kind of signals that the country is stable and worth investing in. If investors feel comfortable and see signs of economic potential, they might be more willing to put money into factories and manufacturing. At the end of the day, it’s all about confidence—if they think they can make money, they’ll invest

FGS has nothing to do with the project.
its 100% private business. Stop pocket-watching or worrying about where another man invests his money.

U see a useless project, I see thousands of construction workers getting jobs, hundreds of permanent positions, and increased economic activity.

If the government wants investors to invest in factories, they need to provide cheap energy. Afgooye has large natural gas reserves. FGS should start there.

That's the thing. It isn't a private project at all It is fully goverment funded with them giving the contract to two construction companies. The main reason Xamar is seeing a construction boom last 13 years is because of the private sector so why would I hate on it :wtfdis:

You are right on the second paragraph and I don't see it totally as useless, it is just the 2nd project the FGS laid out within a month with the other one being the exact same thing. Building malls and hotels should not be the FGS only focus.
