Self identity seems to be a problem nowadays

I always saw my race as black and ethnicity as Somali. I've only ever seen people contest this online and not irl :kanyeshrug:

I agree but ive seen it irl but its very rare one time I saw this old somali guy who said hes not african

and hes not a cause he can name all his grandfathers which a cant do

This is the Bantu professor who hates Somalis and constantly complains about exclusion, simply because we do not consider him & his people to be Soomaali. So naturally he would attack and resent that Identity he is shunned out off and perpetuate something that is not true.

This guy has an obvious agenda going on here and you guys are just blatantly falling for it like some ignorant Self loathing cunts following for this eurocentrism

Let me break it down for you guys.

1) Somalis do not think they are arab, they think they are Soomaali.

Keep in mind that people like that Bantu professor have a deeply-rooted belief that Arabs have ownership over Islam or that Islam is associated with Arabs only and that is why people point the finger at us accusing us of being Arabs. Just because we are muslims. Trying project that identity crised insecurity on us.

They even did a survey on Arab league nations where they asked different nations apart of the league what they consider their race, nationality, ethnicity and culture is everyone except for Somalis said Arab. Somalis said Somali on everything.

Yet they still try to perpetuate this constant falsehood of us claiming or thinking we are Arab. This only exist in their own rubbish rethoric not in reality at all.

We named ourselves "Soomaals" and our language , culture and history is "Soomaali"....Oh How convient for people who allegedly think they Arabs we sure make it obvious that we aren't.

and no, some creationist myths about sheikhs had zero significance/relevance in the Somali identity formation.
So it doesn’t fit relying on centuries old nomadic dwelling myths to support your argument because It doesn't lineup with the contemporary and historical reality of us being Somali nor does it invalidate it. At this point is just constant bombardment of empty rhetoric of Muslim = Arabic.

When do we claim arab? When we speak in our own Somali language? When we practice our somali culture? When we read Somali history? When we engage in Somali Politics? When we list Somali on the census? When do we claim them?

His claims of us thinking we Arabs only exist in rethoric "language" not in reality.

We consider ourselves Soomaali as our race that is the reality.

2) There is no such thing as Black African. It is a racist term.

Nobody on this planet puts a adjective on their identity, especially when they are a majority, except African people
. Black Africa, Dark Continent, Heart of Darkness all articulate the colonial contempt for a continent and its people.

But how does one arrive at the term “black Africans,” are there green Africans? Would you speak of “yellow Chinese,” or “brown Indians”? Even terms like "White Russian" are unused, despite Russia being a multi-ethnic nation. Because 80% white means the majority have no need for adding White to their Russian to qualify against a minority of "other" Russians. Globally the term " Red Indian" is rejected as deeply pejorative

The concept of a “black Africa ” is a Eurocentric term based upon their ignorant primitive regressive deductions.

3) Africa is not a monolith, Africa is a continent and diverse one at that.

Africa is a vastly genetically, culturally, phenotypically and historically diverse region and the idea that there are "True Africans" is honestly a bit ludicrous. Africa's a continent, not an ethnicity.

There is more diversity between a Somali and a bantu from Tanzania then there is between a Chinese and a Swede. Why would you assume as to view ourselves the same as them or close to them?

Yet its only Africans, not Europeans or Asians that push this flawed Monolith, Singular African paradigm. A chinese is not the same as an Indian just because they share a continent. An Italian is not the same as a Norwegian just because they share the same continent.

What is Africanity? is there a Europeanity, or Asianity?

This is not an issue . Only to some people because they're idiots who've been brainwashed by western "Racialism" and see everything in "Black " & "White", consequently in their addled minds you can't be "African" without being "Black" (or completely so) so they develop this weird identity crisis.

Why would i claim African if it means for me to revoke who i am and lump myself to people who i share nothing with except for a continent and skin color?

I dont understand this fascination with race on this forum :ayaanswag:

Since its Black history month, I propose a ban on all race topics for the remaining of February.

We're not black and never will be. We are Somali.

I remember Somalis back in high school weren't even considered black even white people didn't consider as black. I remember Somali dude claiming to be black and some cadaan kid gave him a reality check. Basically told him to stop begging he ain't black alla ceebta.:dead:
