Liban is a Minnesota-based journalist who’s well-respected in the Somali community and has a lot of influence. He’s currently responsible for fundraising for those forcefully displaced by state sponsored Somaliland clan militias in Las Anod and other towns.

Do you think this is an appropriate response to the illegal seizure of D&M property?

Boycotts definitely work. I think this will have a huge impact if they go through with it.

Dahabshil could forsure as their customer base is Somalis and they could change to Amal, Tawakal, etc.

Haas is more tricky and difficult and don’t think it could happen as their business operates in 7 other countries, and they don’t have anything to do with Somaliland while Dahabshil and Somaliland regional government go hand in hand.

In any case, I would love to see a response from D&M and other Somalis should join and support them.

Where does Haas operate in Somalia??

I don't think D&M have large diaspora base to boycott Dhahabshiil and that financial jaggernut operates has stakes in Xamar and other regions in Somalia that are more important for the local small businesses
