Puntland 20 Year Anniversary Thread

It's 20 years to the day, of our great State's creation. Man o man, has Puntland come a long way, from a dead backwater, to a place of peace, stability, great business class, and strong emphasis on education for the youth.

Peace and blessings on our State's found, Abdullahi Yusuf, may Allah have mercy on his soul. Without his vision and hindsight, for the people of Dal Udug to have control of their destiny, Puntland would not excist.

With that said, boys and girls, do contribute to this thread. Share stories and pictures, and so on.

In Sha Allah, may the next 20, 40, 60, 80, 100, a THOUSAND years, be blessings upon blessings for Puntland.

We need to start taking the government of Puntland accountable for misapproprating tax funds.

We cannot succeed if we do not have a transparent government and that will not happen unless, WE, Puntites take a stance against corruption!!

If you think what Puntland has achieved thus far is impressive, you should realise that we would be WAAAAY more advanced if our leaders were not irresponsible and corrupt.

Wake up Puntites and let's save our land.

Yep, Corruption is the # 1 enemy. We gotta hold our officials accountable and keep track of every penny. Current system is useless

It is also the 800 year anniversary of Puntland's oldest and longest lasting kingdom: the Warsangeli Sultanate.

Sultan Mohamud Ali Shire was the last Sultan of the Warsangeli kingdom. He was born in the capital, Las Khorey

He fought against the British with his son-in-law Sayid Mohamad Abdullah Hassan.

He was exiled to Seychelles by the British along with the Egyptian Prime Minister whom he befriended.

After 8 years of being imprisoned, he brought a local 16 year old concubine into his chambers but the British quickly took her away.

The guard responsible for him wrote a letter to his higher ups asking for them to bring back the girl.

"This man is still young and full of life. It is a pity that he has been sent over here without one of his wives".​

They refused and said that the Sultan could

"secure the services of a boy who can be both cook and attendant if he wishes to do so at our expense"​

Naturally, the Sultan told these British s to f*ck off.

Sultan Mohamud Ali Shire died peacefully in his sleep in 1960 in Badhan.

Karinhegane is situated between the towns of Las Khorey and El Ayo. It is the site of numerous cave paintings of real and mythical animals. Each painting has an inscription below it, which collectively have been estimated to be around 2,500 years old.
