Somalis have very similar names and therefore, the courts include the mothers name of the accused so that everyone (everyday citizens) will know exactly who is on trial. Nowadays, the trials are televised but obviously, in the past that wasn't the case and so this kind of system, decreased the likelihood of an innocent person being labeled as criminal just because they happen to share a name with someone who was convicted of a crime.I wonder why some of these men are named after their mothers, for example; "Ina Sacdiya Salaad"
