I assumed this was a private project by Puntite businessmen and Medical Professionals, but this is a project by the Sinaan and Cadaalad Political Party.

I think Jebiye is the same man I heard about who is known to be extremely philanthropic. This is a major project and the biggest development project ever announced by a Puntite Political Party, dare I say it, any Somali Political Party?

We are nowhere near the level we need to be to do mining btw.

We need laws to protect the environment
Laws to protect workers
to make sure locals are employable/skilled.
Make sure we can refine and make products from what we have mined and not just export raw materials.

Look at what is happening in Sanaag right now? A bunch of Somalis with their foreign workers are digging holes all over the place. I fear for what will happen to beautiful Sanaag because this is dangerous.

You need billions or hundreds of millions of dollars to get into mining. Its so capital intensive that some companies with a mining division sell their mining business to free up capital. Imagine you have to spend 300 million to earn 350 million in revenue. Its insane.

And then there is the lead time. It takes many years to create an operational mine site.

Every large town and city should have a hospital, and this kind of infrastructure will definitely bring an economic boost

This is also a perfect example as to why MJ men always win the Puntland Presidential Election, they spend a lot of money, time and effort to secure the seat. Other clans in Puntland actually expect the Presidency to be given to them as if it's a rotating privilege and not something you earn.
