Puntland Vice President in Galkayo to attend talks in Galmudug controlled Galkayo

Abdihakim Amey travelled to Galkayo to have peace talk meeting in Galmudug controlled Galkayo.

Already the joined police force operates out of Shabeel police headquarter in Galmudug.

This comes after skirmishes in eastern mudug such as Jeexdin and Balibusle village which was attacked by 7 militiamen of Galmudug decent where they injured a mother and daughter.

I am all for peace talks but are Xaashi Galmudug's vice who is Sade Darood and Amey Dhulbahante Harti Darood the real stakeholders as the warring parties are of Majerteen Cumar Maxamuud and Habargidir Sacad complexion.

In Somalia clans follow their own interests. Either Amey is a big dog or there are other incentives here at play. Heck even Gaas is a lame duck as he has no say in this matters as his subclan are small and not relevant to the conflict and on top they are not even from the places where the killing and fighting is happening.

I pray for peace but at the same time we should not ignore realities on the ground.

Puntland VP arrives in Galkayo on peace mission




The Vice President of Somalia’s northeastern semi-autonomous region of Puntland, Abdikahim Hajji Omar (Amey) and a delegation he was leading arrived in Galkayo on Saturday.

The Vice President reached Galkayo on peace mission and lead mediation efforts to end inter-clan conflict in eastern Mudug region, according to Radio Shabelle’s reporter in the town.

During his stay, Puntland VP will hold talks with city council, community leaders and officials of Mudug regional administration, to discuss on ways to end the clan rivalry.

Omar is also expected to meet with Galmudug state officials in the town.

The visit by Puntland VP in the conflict-riddled town comes following deadly clashes between two armed rival militias from Galmudug and Puntland in the area in the past.

Can the VP intervene between Maxamed Garaad and Cumar Maxamuud? This is highly unlikely for two reasons. Maxamed Garaad are the reason why he has to make huge detour around Ethiopia everytime he is actually allowed to Visit his home town Buuhoodle and why he does not fancy going there often as Maxamed Garaad militia pick him off and he knows he is not able to go through their lands in his capacity as VP of Puntland. Ironically Ali Khalif who is Maxamed Garad can go in and out of Buuhoodle as he wishes even as a outed Somalilander!

Secondly the area is controlled by Ethiopia and any peace process will be undertaken by them he can't get involved without their permission even then Maxamed Garaad would protest because they see Amey as a pro Puntland agent.

So Amey can not go to his own home city and is avoiding his cousins by doing a detour around their lands through another country before going to his home town for berievement as it is the only time he could actually go there.

Already the joint Police force operate out of Galmudug Police headquarter named after one of Aidids most vicious commander in the civil force called Shabeel it is akin to Galmudug allowing its Police members to be housed in a Police headquarter of a commander in the civil war.

Gaas even went as far as going to Galmudug controlled Galkayo. The same man who said he will never meet Guuleed President of Galmudug but ended up recognizing them fully. He even went to their capital in Adado take part in the inauguration of the next President of Galmudug.

1.GM and PL united as 1 federal state!
2.Or Every state for himself and may the winner of the Battle take all of the other's state, Period and no Calacaal.
