Those canyons man, Somalia's very own Grand Canyons. Ali Saleeban sure are blessed. Amazing. My grandfathers hometown, its mad to think a hundred years ago, he may have been trekking all over those canyons.

To all Puntites, any of you know more about the village? Its history? Whats the current population? With ISIS, taking the place last year and then later them being defeated, what's the security like now? Is there a permanent battalion stationed there to protect the town?
Also, does the PL Government have any development projects lined up for the area?

Beautiful scenery. Ali Saleebaan has a very beautiful landscape. The issue is that it is surrounded by mountains. The distance between Bosaso and Qandala is less than 80km but it will cost you almost a day to reach there. There are plans to connect Bosaso and Qandala through a tunnel which will cost around 8 million dollars.

Murcaanyo is another Ali Saleebaan gem

Islamic State still roams there it has not been defeated. Puntland is on both sides surrounded by Al Shabab who killed over 100 a few months ago and frequent sporadic fighting occurs and the eastern side where Daacish gets some support.

Hopefully with the weakend Islamic State in Iraq and Syria they will give themselves in which I greatly doubt.

The army is still stationed and killed in terrorist traps like explosions roadblocks and surprise attacks etc.
