BOSASO (HOL) - Former Bari regional commissioner, Abdisamad Mohamed Galan and Puntland troops clashed on Thursday

The fight took place on the outskirts of Armo following an assault on Galan's base by the Puntland troops.

Speaking to radio stations in Mogadishu over the phone, Galan said his forces destroyed an armored vehicle which belonged to the Puntland forces.

“In the hours of early morning, we were attacked by forces loyal to Abdiwali Gas. We fought back and they suffered casualities in the attack; we also destroyed one of their vehicles”, Galan said.

He added that his troops managed to push the attacking Puntland forces back but declined to reveal whether his soldiers suffered any fatalities.

The number of casualties in the clash remains unknown.

The northern Somalia region had remained stable during over decades old conflict in Somalia which largely engulfed large parts in the south and central Somalia.
