NZ much like Australia, is not a UK territory, it is independent of the UK government and parliament. Although they are part of the commonwealth, they also adhere to their own laws and customs. Why people have an issues with this is beyond me, they are the indigenous people of the land, outlawing their customs due to bias and or racism is shameful.
