I asked my sujuus and they said Somalis DO share words with Swahili:

Mola - God
Jiiraan - Neighbours
Fuundi - Builder/craftsman

That colonial white guy was wrong after all!

I never heard Mola bro.

And like Swahili the Somali has a lot of Arab loanwords for example Jiiraan is from the Arabic but the Swahili pronounce it different than Somalis. So its not connection between our language and theirs.

I don't think they use Fuundi my brother or maybe they picked this up from us.

A sijui would say anything to make feeling grow warmer between them and their masters
