It seems that this war will drag on if the Russians are preparing to send more troops into Ukraine. The amount of troops they sent in the beginning wasn't enough in the first place but let's see how the military situation develops in the upcoming days and weeks.

I honestly believe if the Russians really tried with a full-scale offensive towards Kyiv to occupy it, they would have succeeded. They only sent in a few units of special forces and just conducted extensive artillery and aerial strikes but only a negligible amount of troops to back up the offensive in Kyiv.

They focused more of their forces on areas in the Donbas, where the bulk of the Ukrainian army was located. Not to mention their intense efforts to take Mariupol and other key areas in the southern part of the country.

i honestly don't believe that. i believe Putin wanted to cut the head of the snake by capturing the capital but didn't prevail. if he wanted the southern and eastern parts only, he could had them since the donbass is already almost controlled by the rebels. besides, why lose men if you only want the eastern section.
