He is right about Syria, that butcher owes to putin. They control Syria airspace, Bashar take orders from him and Iran .

Russia have a base in Syria, they only intervened when it looked likely that ISIS or Al-Qaeda were gonna make big gains.

Until 2014, Russia kept to their naval base.

He could easily flown to UAE Iran or wherever like the Tunisian dictator. Or claim innocent since he didn’t done much as he took power in 2000’s. But his family and wife ( a butcher herself) convinced him to stay for there are ways to suppress the rebellion

A dictator only gives up when hope is lost. Until that point, they will use anything to win.

Saudi Arabia’s rulers would be more violent if they found the same threat to their regime. Likewise with most dictatorships.

Furthermore, it helped his legitimacy that his opposition was primarily composed of terrorist groups.

I am not denying that he is a violent dictator but after 2014, it was only a choice between Assad or ISIS/Al-Qaeda.

That doesn’t excuse his crimes or his violence, hopefully Syria replace him with a better government but siding with the opposition in 2022 is siding with terrorism.

The well off Sunni Syrians support Assad, he was able to exploit internal Sunni class divisions in his own favor. If the Syrian rebels can't control their co-religious elite, how can they control all of Syria?

The answer is they won't, but since the Alawites are only 10% of Syria they can't recapture all of Syria. Endless conflict until Russia/Iran/Hezbollah pull out and the US helps the rebels genocide the Alawites in the next round.

Not even the well-off nowadays, I’ve met qaxootis that escaped the carnage in Aleppo praising Assad.

Most Syrians I talked to say they were against Assad but came around to supporting him after ISIS started making gains.

Because you view it from Sunni-Shia point of view. Early 2011-2014, Syrian rebels wanted to bring assad "regime", till Iran and Alqaeda entered the conflict. Sunni bourgeoisies supporting him doesn't mean the ppl don't have the right to seek freedom, even some Alawaites opposed him, and entered the Rebeles leadership.

Syria is better off with Assad. If Assad was toppled on 2011 Syria today would have been like Libya but without the oil aka Somalia.

Putin has the right tactics now. Before he had the delusions of conquering ukraine intact while the people lined up the streets singing his name and placing a single white rose on the streets.

Now he knows the truth. So he can implement actual effective strategies I.e destroy ukraine energy infrastructure.

First ISIS is almost gone, there are Alqaeda and the FSA, and your statement is atonishing.
It is like saying if you sided with Ukraine is like siding with the nazis.
Alqaeda can be brush out from Syrian rebel block

The Free Syrian Army is a name nowadays, many policy analysts have stated there is no unified fighting force. It contains genuine rebels, opportunists and terrorists all with different aims.

Who is the main opposition to Assad in Syria? It isn’t them anymore.

At least in Ukraine there is a clear opposition to the Russian army which is the government. Azov just happens to be a militant group with similar objectives.

🇺🇦Kiev authorities announced the continuation of mobilization in Ukraine

“The subpoena should be expected by all males liable for military service under the age of 60. Raids during which subpoenas are issued will continue. They can be issued anywhere and at any time of the day,” said Kiev’s chief military commissar Yuriy Maksimov.
