After Saaxo was named a district in august 2014 this tiny settlement grew quickly in only 2 years thanks to the hard work and will of it's people with help and guidance from Tigey the former Mudug governor. Within weeks after Puntland declared Saaxo a district reer saaxo managed to hold elections for Gole deegaan, Gudoomiye & Gudoomiye ku xigeen who together with Tigey went straight to work. Puntland funded the first well in Saaxo and sent medical teams to establish health center, ministry of education sent teachers, materials and so. Reer saaxo followed Tigeys policy of iska wax uqaabso and together as a community built schools, police station, military base with Puntland providing training and equipment. The women of Saaxo who are the real heroes built the first building with their hands.
