The real estate crash will be juicy. These mortgages are starting to hit sub prime levels. What worries me is what this will mean for the economy at large because right now the Canadian economy is being carried almost entirely by the real estate industry.

In these neighborhoods, you just get in touch with a realtor and pay $1,500-3,000/month for the next 35 years. Anyone with a decent job can afford that. Hence, they're middle class neighborhoods.

These people don't even bring in $1500/month. What they do is move like 10 of their relatives in, put the elders on social assistance, and get the younger ones to work a min. wage job and all chip in for that mortgage payment. Once interest rates start picking up, these are the people who will begin the crash.

There just are not enough middle class or government jobs in the GTA to carry this bloated real estate industry.
