Is this a result of intermixing with Southern Cushites, or is it a result of recent intermixing with Somalis and Borana?

According to this research Rendille didn't embrace samburu culture out of love but due to fear after rendille community were devastated by small box in 19th century.

They have a lot of Cushitic ancestry, that's why. But they also have genuine South Sudanese ancestry and unlike the Maasai they have much less Bantu.

I think that their Cushitic is majority South Cushitic, but perhaps they may have some true East Cushitic due to Rendille admixture.

IMO, the Samburu and Maasai are the same ethnicity. The Samburu are simply the northern variant of the Maasai.
