Senegal build a mosque worth of $41million dollars in 2019

While their poverty rate is 46.7% :snoop:

is it just me or are African countries in general this dumb. They could have funded their population with that huge amount of money, reminds me of the obsession other African countries have with building 1000s of churches.

That could have fed so many people. Labour and land are cheap in Africa so for something to cost that much im guessing they used rare/precious stones/stonework or imported a lot of the decoration.
Yup. Basically this ^. I think they used their owns if I’m sure? And imported a few things from neighbouring countries

I can get that tbh but Senegal is genuinely such a sad country to look at since they have so many opportunities compared to others and are downplaying it for stuff like this while almost the average person is not even stable

A Sufi order funded it. The president of the time gifted them the land, entailing the government didn't use the state budget for the mosque's construction.

Ah thank you for mentioning it. Some people in the replies said that they used the state budget for it so I wasn’t 100% sure

You are spreading fake western propaganda about our Muslim brothers. @Giftxo you need to reevaluate your life choices. Right now your on a slippery slope to immorality.

Lmao what? Senegal is indeed a poor country and could have used the $41 million dollars to feed those who live in extreme poverty. I’m not spreading fake western propaganda sweetheart

I meant immorality. You think you’re clever by looking down on Islam but Islam will always be more clever than you.
1. the mosque has 30,000 capacity, so this mosque will raise far more millions in sadaqa
2. It’s the biggest mosque in west Africa so it will be a tourist attraction raising more money for the economy
3. It size will bring about 1000’s of jobs
4. It will be able to feed 1000’s of the poorest locals every ramadan
5. Most importantly, it’s presence will give immeasurable joy and spiritual happiness to anyone that gazes upon it

I visited this masjid myself for Jumuah last year.
After Jumuah they give coffee and water to everyone present.
Whoever stays is fed an excellent lunch of rice and meat. During Ramadan it will serve iftar and suhoor everyday, using funds given to the Khalif of the murids by his disciples and organized specifically by his disciples.

The people that organized this masjid have a long track record of feeding the poor and masakeen in senegal. They'll take completely destitute people and help to rectify all of their affairs

In their capital, Touba, there's no music, soccer or cigarettes and people are fed there daily.

Basically, this mosque is a good thing.

Btw if you wanted to criticize something about Senegal, criticize the governments decision to build a masonic statute that has no purpose whatsoever

.

Nope. Perhaps this idea:

“Helping their citizens get out of povorty”

it’s ridiculous that the country has a 46.7% rate or poverty and its increasing every year
What do you want a sufi brotherhood to spend its money on?

This is not government funded
