Yes a global Somali organisation that protects the interests of Somalis abroad and Somalia's interests is a great idea. However, the viability of such an organisation would be severely hampered by qabiilism unfortunately.
I think we want less foreign interventions. The entire point of having a global Somali organisation is to lobby foreign governments to align with Somali interests. We neither have the political capital or the funds to do that. I feel like we as the diaspora are meddling too much in Xamar and should just let the locals rule.
You can't expect a stable government that governs for the best interests of the Somali people by allowing foreign nationals to run in parliamentary elections.
Its a lot better for us to stick with having local Somali organisations to help folks get into specific hard to get into industries, rather than have an annual party celebrating a few measly achievements.
