Similarities between Oromo people and Somalis

Of course. Though they have a lot less Arabic loanwords as far as I've noticed. I've seen a video where somali is compared to oromo and we have some basic words in common.

They say mataa for head(like madax), afaan for language(like af), etc.

The genetic distance between Somalis and Oromos in FST is 0.008, more than the genetic distance between the Spanish and the Russians, two people that split up 4,700 years ago and who live 3,500 km apart.

The Oromo are closer to the Amhara, Tigray and Afar than they are to Somalis. We are separated by 5,000 year.

We are like Pakistanis and Norwegians, we're related distantly but split up thousands of years ago.

It's very surprising to think about this. When we say spaniards or russians, pakistani or norwegians we're talking about people that lives miles and miles away from each other meanwhile the oromos relatively speaking lives a stone throw away yet the distains between their genetics goes back several thousend of years.

Idk why people like to focus on the similarities between Oromos and Somalis. We're no more closely related to them than other Horn African ethnicities like Amharas or Afars.

Wlh Europeans are such a new people:ftw9nwa:. The Aryan migrations happened only like 5,500 years ago so Europeans as we know them today genetically/linguistically are only as old as Ancient Egypt and Nubia. Hilarious to put in perspective.

You have to account that European are way more homogenous for the basic fact that they went through a considerable bottleneck when going out of Africa. And a Russian, believe it or not, got the same components (Steppe, Neolithic Farmer, WHG, and EHG ( - more for Eastern Europeans) - with some minor frequencies of Asiatic influence in Russians and perhaps North African in Spanish, but the latter is not a rule just a potential likelihood if something foreign got picked up unlike the former who likely has Siberian influence at a minor yet noticeable frequency), as a Spanish, only in different proportions.

Oromos, having heterogenous autosomal structures, will show greater distance. If you extract the Cushitic elements, then the Fst will show way closer proximity. Then again, linguistically and even genetically, 4000 years of divergence (with the strictly Cushitic signature components) is likely in the correct ballpark (the Agaw Cushitic is the regional genetic nucleus for Ethiopians and those were completely split and isolated from us maybe 5000-6000 years ago (plus 7000-year-old linguistic split with 1000-2000 year genetic sub-regional signature calibration to show some drift), and then you can assume some proto-East Cushitic stimulation to lower the differentiation to 4000 years ago since the genetic barriers are not 100% discrete even if they are genetically isolated from a Somali on relative grounds).

I have some Arab DNA, and G25 with genetic distance gives me a very proximal to an Amhara. It goes to show that, if you remove the disproportional non-Cushitic admixture, then the divergence levels will change considerably. All Ethiopians are indeed closer to each other than Somalis are to them. Somalis show endogamous demographic selective mixing with minor extraneous geneflow influence with Ethiopians, while an Ethiopian population will be closer to their neighbors of different ethnicities than the same ethnicities that are geographically distant, but their genetic width is closer from an overall outlook between distinct groups as well relative to Somalis and Ethiopians.

Wait did you say you have arab dna? Interesting from where and when did you get it?
