@ሕጊ።። @Duke of Bohol
Let us decipher this,
I can make out B/D/W but it seems very damaged, oh @ሕጊ።። can you read this?
I think we should adopt this script seeing as this is the one with most history in our nation
I've always wondered if our ancient script which most likely had to be used by the pre-islamic coastal states (as seen from Periplus) to record their civic duties would look similar to Ge'ez and South arabian alphabet (due to proximity and sphere of influence from Aksum/Himyar). It would make sense.
Bottom line says wkg 'bd
Can't read the top one but the stuff you drew over says 'bdk
Thanks for that, do you have any idea if any of those words or phrases mean something in Tigrigna? If not then it could mean that it is really old or in ancient Somali.
@Duke of Bohol this map by Sacada Mire shows that there is only one inscription in Sanaag and that is of the coast.
It looks like it is west of Maydh, do you have any photos? Also where is this Shumux-shumux place? It seems like it is closer to ceerigaabo and the mountain range than the coast.
Well I can't tell what the vowels are so I can only go by root and the only one I can tell is 'bd which means crazy/mental. I'm not entirely sure what the lines are, they are either the number 1 or word separators.
Interesting I wonder who lived in Sanaag during that time
This looks like an exact copy of the yemeni oneI've always wondered if our ancient script which most likely had to be used by the pre-islamic coastal states (as seen from Periplus) to record their civic duties would look similar to Ge'ez and South arabian alphabet (due to proximity and sphere of influence from Aksum/Himyar).
