Matter of fact in 2020 or 2022 Somalia went to international court requesting the right to Socotra waters and sea rights. So sxb the works Somalia government does understand it legal rights to Socotra. This court case is till being worked on it hasn't stopped yet

If somalia had a competent government, like I mean the national government having the ablity to control its affairs, hold the states down and develop the country. Getting socotra would be extremely easy, and it would all be done peacefully and legally.

You see, yemen is actually doing worse than we are with the Houthis and stuff. The people of socotra are completely different from yemen and the islands are much closer to somalia.
If somalia was a competent and respected country, this decision to take socotra would not be alarming to foreign countries.
In fact it would be welcomed especially looking at what is going on in the bab el mandeb strait with the Houthis. Sadly, we have HSM farmaje all the failed states. So any prospect of getting this island is absolutely destroyed.
Even then, in the future if somalia were to be developed and yemen is in a better state. Then the northern cyprus approach will also be acceptable. But even then, yemen has no real control to socotra it is a somali island

It’s not a somali island at all since it is not inhabitated by somalis.

Having a military presence there in the future (for security reasons) is ideal since it is so close to the somali coast, but it has to be done with the permission of the people.
