Is it only me that gets frustrated when films set in somalia or Djibouti just use some random african to play a Somali character. Like black hawk down. At least captain Phillips had a somali actor.
Captain Philips under paid the Somali actor. Even though he was one of the main actors he got paid something like $40K versus the white dude who got paid $4+ million. All these movies like Captain Phillips and Black Hawk Down were also products of the U.S. Defence-Industrial Complex. The Pentagon literally financed the movies and made billions in profit at the box office. The movies were never about representation but about U.S. state propaganda to demonise Somalia and Somalis in the eyes and ears of the American/Western mainstream
