Somali brothers, let’s bring this back!

The specific period between 1970 - present saw this majestic attire completely disappear from both our elites and religious class as they adopted military attires due to communism and Middle-Eastern fashion due to the petrol dollar influence. This style of clothing with their specific patterns and colourful turbans needs to make a comeback and we can start by wearing this at weddings and national days, this how a lot of the traditional attires of the world have survived;

That's an Omani bisht. Only worn by chiefs and nobles. The average Somali had two sheets or cloth or just looked like this.

Did you even watch the video? Or read his post? He literally said it was only for nobles/royals.

Don’t mind self-hating individuals like him, the Sultans of Mogadishu and Adal wore attires identical to this 700+ years ago, but he wants to attribute it to the Omani, who were under Persian and Portuguese occupation for centuries.

The only problem I would say will occur is that every oday will be wearing it and it will lose the value it had before not to mention the ugly versions of this attire that would be sold at local markets. Back then Suldaan were few and had a full time job representing his people and peace making between rival tribes.

We could have tiers of importance like the Malays, where the crown like attires are worn by important individuals, while the rest wear a variation of a black Fez. In our case, the most important of us like leaders and sheikhs (or grooms) would wear the colourful turbans, while the rest would wear a variation of the white Fez or Koofiyad Barawani.

This attire acknowledged our 1400 year old relationship with Islam and the Eurasian continent, while it was unique enough in terms of patterns and colourways to set us apart from the rest. These guys below were dripped to the max;

It is actually different from the Omani Bisht it seems to have been a common Horner Islamic attire (with variations). There are even people in Nigeria amongst the Hausa and Fulani who wore something quite close they might have come across it from our people who travelled there.

Malays have to be some of the most dripped out brothers along with Hausa and Fulani and West Africans
