Somali changes his arabic/Persian name to a Somali name

I like it.

You won't experience Islamophobia (not as much), Arabophobia etc coming from Westerners, especially when looking for jobs.

Also, you don't have to stress that the next major terrorist might have your name like what happened to the name Osama.

People need to learn how to differentiate between Arab names and Islamic names. Most Somalis have Islamic names....not traditional Arab names like: Sami, Baseem, Amir, Nadir, and Maher...You'll never find Somali men with these names.

Do Somalis exist who have their clan as their official surname?

In Gulf Arab countries they do that (Arabs with their tribe as their surname). Some even their ethnicity (like Al-Turki, Al-Bukhari etc).

Would be cool if Somalis also did this, everyone would be tribally identifiable by their surname. :chrisfreshhah:
