Mother's side lived in Dhuusomareeb, primary and secondary schooling was pretty much standard throughout Somalia. Tertiary level was unfortunately concentrated in Mogadishu along with almost everything else, a mistake that should never be repeated again.

I wonder how good the schools were outside of Mogadishu back then. :drakekidding:
They were even better in north Somalia( ceerigaabo) where they had British style boarding schools. After graduation the students could speak Somali English and Arabic.

Primary school was standard in the north but secondary schooling was for a select few since the government didn't build many secondary schools.

Those were former colonial schools. It was mainly elite families children that went to those schools.

That schools were still there even after colonial left, lot of families never had to send their kids to Mogadishu. The secondary schools in north were very good.
