Somali Minister of Finance Mr Abdirahman Duale Beyle today signed a USD 2.7 million project to manage the effects of the drought that has hit the country.
The Project is funded by the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) in collaboration with the World Bank and is expected to benefit many people around the country who are hardly affected by the shortage of water and other drought effects.
This follows a previous agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on the same issue.
Mr Beyle who spoke to the media mentioned the most deserving regions who are in dire need of help.
The head of NRC Mr Barnaba Asarg thanked the Ministry for its good working relations.
This is the first time in 27 years for the Finance Ministry to manage a project meant to benefit the local people.
