To me, the Somali in his stable form displays both Sub Saharan and Caucasiod features. Of course, we also have those who have altered phenotypes, often Sub Saharan and Caucasiod, and rarely showing pseudo-Mongoloid features. When altered by Caucasiod, the Somali will have thinner lips and a nose that is more protruding from the face than average. Hair may also be straighter, but this is not rare for the Somali (compared to North, South and Western Horn populations) and so unless extremely straight, can usually be considered normal. I refrain from using the word Negroid as some may take offence to this. When I talk about Sub Saharan, I use the Yoruba as a reference population, and Med peoples as Caucasian.
In its stable form; I believe these are average and representative of the population living in Africa. Dark brown to black skin, thick lips, average nose, curly hair.
Sub Saharan variant of the Somali phenotype;
Slight Sub Saharan deviation, quite subtle.
Having a Caucasian affinity;
Subtle
I want to conclude by saying that none of the phenotypes are more prevalent in one clan than another (of the ethnic Somali clans), and that I do not believe in the superiority of a certain look over another.
