Somali National Army chief visits Afgoye, following security take over.

Do you think al shabaab has weakend so much so that they csnt do anything anymore and what do you see there future looking like
Al-shabab is not an external threat to FGS , they stopped being a military threat from around 2015 onwards. The US recently claimed that Al-shabab does not have the capabilities to overtake any town/area that the FGS wants to keep.

The main threat Al-shabab poses is a logistical threat in terms of security. To counter this , operation BadBaado 1 successfully cut off all the bridges leading to lower Shabellle. Consequently all IED attacks within Mogadishu are not as powerful as before but are still deadly.

The main job for the FGS is to to now push into Al-shabab held areas harder while ramping up internal security. Over the next 5 years i expect 1/2 - 2/3rds of currently Al-shabab held lands to be under FGS control. Over the next 10 years the FGS will be powerful enough to hold all of Southern Somalia.

The FGS has only existed for the last 9 years yet within that time all major cities are free. Time is on our side.
