Why hasn't such a thing happened in Somalia the last 30 years? Bringing together Qabiils from every region in Greater Somalia. Having Clan elders, culumo, politicians, academics and citizens all come together. Accepting our mistakes, forgiving each other and reminding us of our common brotherhood since we are all Somali and share the same religion and language. Talking about the need for unity and working together and building a nation for our future generations. Building connections and ties, maybe those youngsters who attend would go on to form political parties in the future based on midnimo and a common ideology irrespective of qabiil.
It would've been nice if this conference happened every year in different regions/cities in Somaliweyn and a similar one for the diaspora abroad.
If Rwanda was able to move on from its cruel past to a better future why can't we as Somalis and Muslims do the same? Or if we go down the route of balkinsation it would help us still work together independently and collectively.
