The big trade off to enduring that discrimination, harassment and poor treatment, is that they brought back with them knowledge and badly needed skills that worked to the benefit of Somalia. A lot of former Somali soviet student played an instrumental role. There was Somali students that were sent to United States as well


Russsia today is not any different to what it was back then in the 1960-1970s Africans students still face racism on university campuses.
