Berbera port is a national asset of Somalia’s. It had a 20 year monopoly on animal exports when there was a central government. Somaliland gave Ethiopia a 20% share in the port which is totally unacceptable to all other Somalis. It also gave the UAE permission to build a military base without any input from Mogadishu. These actions impact the politics of the country as a whole. There would have been no problem if the deal was only commercial, but Somaliland politicized it. You cannot expect the central gov to simply ignore what the UAE/Ethiopia are conducting on its territory.
