This isn't VAT. It's a sales tax like in the US where you get taxed at the till of all the products you've purchased. Whereas in the UK VAT would be included in the cost of your item not seeing an addition onto your bill
That's a technicality, the take away is Somalia is getting a consumption tax which will raise revenue for the gov.
We are ranked the most corrupt nation on the globe. Even the mayor of our capitol is corrupt, what makes you guys think this wont end up in the pockets of a few and we wont see any improvement whatsoever.
Also if handled correctly all the money should be put towards education. A nation of 14M+ that doesn't even have its own national curriculum, how embarrassing. Most students are forced to study out of kenyan/tanzanian books. I've seen my cousin in somalia learn about the geogropahy of kenyan provinces because those are the only books available
The only thing I praise Barre on was his campaign to up the literacy rate and making sure a whole generation had good schooling. All the way from primary to uni.
You must be one of those mooryan economists.This is horrible. The taxes put a burden on an already impoverished nation. Taxes except for critical things like the military is always theft IMO.
Low taxes help businesses to start, and makes the citizens lives easier.
