What Somalia did is not humiliate anyone but itself. Diplomacy is the art of forging alliances to pursue mutually shared interests.

UAE is rich and influnetial country 60-80% of all goods into Somalia enter via the UAE. UAE paid for the lawyers used to hold kenya accountable for stealing Somalia territorial waters.

Because of Somalia's jahilnimo i.e. due to the investment in Somaliland they have lost a great ally.

Again a pure case of suicide.

Like afweyne barre choose the wrong side in the cold war...afweyne Barres nephew chose the wrong side again.

Watch The coming of the Somaliland UAE alliance and how it changes the landscape of Somaliland over the next decade.

Seeing simple minded somalis like @Bohol celebrate their own diplomatic self destruction literally kills me inside. There is no hope for Somalia anymore because instead of forging allies, they are actively looking to make enemies out of former allies in their weak and fragile state because of corruption and incompetence.

Its like the word 'compromise' isn't in the somali dictionary.:wow:

@Zero @TOGAHERER UAE was undermining the Somalia government. In return Somalia took the most appropriate action. You can't be allies with a country that undermines your security and is actively against your interests. That is common sense.

You are forgetting that Kenya,Turkey, Amisom, Qatar and America(Blackwater) are all operating in Somalia currently. What the UAE did isn't even close to what those countries are doing. The UAE and Somalia relations is what kept the country afloat for years and now they throw all of that under the bus because of a single deal they made with Somaliland.

The losses outweigh any so called gains. If there is even any gains at all because now that all the other somali states burned their bridges with the UAE,the only one the UAE can rely on now in the horn of Africa is Somaliland. You are literally giving us free leverage over the UAE to get what we want.

Turkey & Qatar are allies of the Somalia Gov and poured billions into improving Mogadishu and other parts. Somaliland wouldn't know what leverage is if it hit them on the face. Giving 19% of your port to a landlocked country for free.

Somaliland knows how to compromise. That 19% was to pacify Ethiopia's worries about the UAE.We also benefited indirectly by becoming the main port which Ethiopia,a growing manufacturing power, uses for majority of their imports and exports.

Already an increasing number of multinational companies are viewing Somaliland as a secure and stable location through which to access the east African market.:banderas:

Gave away 70% of their only strategic port for a generation.

The deal in SL could have been better but at least its a step in the direction of Investment, FGS should be looking at this deal and not just dismiss it but at least try to increase SL share and help increase the benefit for their fellow SL brothers. Members of FGS are only against this deal because no one asked for their input. Farmaajo is a popular politician but isn't a seasoned politician but he should be surrounding himself with people who can think for themselves and can advise him much better. SL does have a lot to gain from this deal. The only question I have is about the Military Base their giving to UAE, Berbera is a Strategic area and they should wait for more offers from other countries who are willing to give more.

Yh it is a massive L. On top of that the rest will be stolen by few politicians as usual.
Kenya,Turkey, Amisom, Qatar and America(Blackwater) are all operating in Somalia currently. But lets ignore all that and focus on the Somaliland and UAE deal. You guys are crazy.:dead:

Sure, sure.Kenya,Turkey, Amisom, Qatar and America(Blackwater) all operating inside your country for your benefit.:mjlol:

You already have such a huge external debt,is it wise to rely on others and allow so many foreign nations inside of your country doing god knows what?:ivers:
Berbera is not the main port Ethiopia uses and it's not even close.
I said " by becoming the main port which Ethiopia,a growing manufacturing power, uses for majority of their imports and exports." We currently aren't their main port.Nothing has been build yet.The deal just happened a few months ago.

Why is that every MJ that I meet on this site fails to do the simple task of reading? :gucciwhat:

It never will.

According to Temesgen still now around 97% of Ethiopia’s import-export cargo is ferrying through Djibouti ports while 2% and 1% through Port Sudan and Berbera port respectively. Ethiopia planned its import-export loads 60% through Djibouti, 30% through Berbera and 10% through Port Sudan as its economy is increasing and the country planned to become middle income economy, Temesgen added.
