Somalian and Somali- let's embrace both

Since Somalia is clearly not a homogenous country and we have a large Bantu "minority", we need to find a way to distinguish between what constitutes a Somali ethnic from a Somali national.

Why?

Because of our ancestral mistake of not writing down our history and just passing it down orally, we are under threat of having our history disputed.
We are already seeing it with Bantu Hoteps claiming to be the "real natives" and we are "mixed".

We also have a growing Arab population, from Yemen and now Syria. Furthermore, we have a minority but financially affluent Turkish population. All of these groups will at some point adopt Somali nationality and blend in.

All ethnic groups in the world have a way of protecting their ethnic identity from being usurped and disputed.

I saw someone say this before but we should say;

SOOMAALI- Somali ethnics (Dir, Daarood, Hawiye, D&M, Ajuuraan etc)

PREFIX SOMALIAN or Somalian-BANTU Somalian , Arab Somalian

Somalis have a terrible habit of ignoring things such as cultural assets and identity. This is something that is fiercely guarded by most developed and successful nations.

I totally agree with you, as soon as we have peace, we should have a face lift as a nation. But even then, we need a clear unifying and identifying term for what constitutes a Somali ethnic from a national.

We shouldn’t change the countries name it fits us as somalis, we should work on improving security, the economy, overall living conditions and launch a massive PR campaign to improve Somalia’s reputation

Its location is not known. It could have been from Mogadishu to Lamu.

Azania is of Greek etymological origin and has no etymological roots to the word Zanj or Zanzibar which comes from Arabic/Semitic. Just a coincidence they sound similar.

however just for a thought experiment and to entertain the idea of the OP I would want something that sounds sophisticated and exotic.

With words rooted in the Somali language as opposed to Greek or Italian like Ethiopia, Eritrea or Azania.
