We can't blame everything on the parents. Some people just have it in them. There are many factors such as integration, racism in the west, living in high criminal communities, bad education and so on.

No ones making excuses. The youth have problems but we can't blame everything on the parents. After all it takes a whole village to raise a child. Ones parents can be perfect and the kids can still end up being idiots. We have to look at it from a wider perspective than just the parents
Most Somalis are broke, unemployed and have little to no education. That does not make them bad people or bad parents but it does place them in bad situations It does make Somalis more likely to live in poor areas with high crime rate. Where the general community does not work and where integration with the police force and the rest of the country is lacking. That can put a strain a childs development and alter their future all together.
Than there are parents that encourage horrible behaviors. Parents that are passive and parents who cuddle their sons and while are very strict with their daughters.
But many refugees and immigrant communities came here broke and with nothing. Like the Tamils who are the same size of us here. Look at them now. I never heard of a Tamil criminal
Because you don't live in Toronto. These guys are the biggest credit card scammers in the whole city.

Now you're making excuses. I don't live in Canada or the states but I'm well aware of the fact that every ethnic group has their own share of problems. Hindus are know for fraud and gang rapes for systematic racism with the cast system. The grass is not always greener on the other side abowe.
We shouldn't compare our self with other ethnic groups because we do not have the same past and nor the same outcome. Most of our parents arrived during the war and before the war a lot of Somalis were not getting an education meaning the majority of Somali parents in the west today have nothing more than basic school knowledge. Many rely on their children to create something.
However I agree we must acknowledge the problem within our youth. The criminal rates but also the religious extremism and the arabization of our culture. But to do that we can't just attack one area. We have to know the problems and tackle them together.
Somalis become criminals because of the music, black culture, among other things.The parents don't engage their children enough though I've noticed this. They just provide food, shelter, and that's about it.
