That is comparing apples and oranges. A lot of those Presidents weren't even chosen, some came through coup (Siad Bare).


He outsmarted his fellow comrades in the coup General Salaad Gabayre (Abgaal) and
General Caynaanshe (HY). Darood didn't choose Siad Bare, we could have had 21 years of Gabayre/Caynaashe if they outfoxed him.
We can't fault Siad Bare for outfoxing his opponents mano a mano.

If acting like Darood means assassinating your opponents in a coup before they become a threat then it is smart. Caynaanshe was Vice President and Salaad Gabayre head of army, they had plenty of time to take out Siad Bare and take everything for themselves since it was a coup to begin with but they hesitated that is what cost them in the end.
