Somaliland:Turkish Airlines starts direct flights to Somaliland
A social media campaign to raise $2 million for starving Somalis reached its goal yesterday after Turkish Airlines (THY) pledged to fill a plane with humanitarian aid as campaigners demanded.
Horndiplomat- Turkish Airlines officially launches first commercial flights to Somaliland Soon ,according to Turkish consul Ali Noyan met with Foreign minister.
On Thursday,The Turkish Consulate in Hargeisa Amb.Ali Noyan meets with Somaliland foreign minister Dr.Saad Ali shire at Ministry of foreign affairs office the sides discussed a key important issues between the two countries. Amb.Noyan his side emphasized that Turkish airlines will start direct flight to Somaliland, and all these interests will execute soon on Turkish development agency TIKAsaid Somaliland foreign ministry press statement.
On the other hand,the large Turkish airlines delegation arrived in Somaliland in December 2015 on assessment mission and they are the first of its kind to have paid an official working visit to Somaliland.
At that time The Turkish airlines delegation accompanied by head of Turkish Consulate office in Hargeisa . Mr. Senol Sakali and Mr. Ahmed Tomul are two civil aviation experts that Turkish airlines send to Somaliland to assess the situation when it comes to Somaliland functioning airports.
After three years latter the Turkish Airlines again interested in Somaliland direct commercial flights ,If it’s true the Turkish Airline joins Ethiopian Airlines Fly Dubaiand Air Arabia in Somaliland as well as much smaller airliners.
Turkish Airlines is the national flag carrier airline of Turkey. As of 2017, it operates scheduled services to 302 destinations in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, making it the largest carrier in the world by number of destinations (excluding regional brands), It serves more destinations non-stop from a single airport than any other airline in Europe. Turkish Airlines flies to 120 countries, more than any other airline.With an operational fleet of 15 cargo aircraft, the airline’s cargo division serves 73 destinations.
