Somalilander Writes About His Experience At Mogadishu Airport!

"Maybe I am going crazy here but what I saw at the airport in Mogadishu really solidified the delusion these people live in. First of all the important positions are held by Turkish people. They make us get off the airplane in order to check in once again and I am greeted by turkish gypsy telling me to take my hat off in his language shouting. I'm am the only one stocked and puzzled by this interaction. They have the audacity to speak about Somaliland when they have turkish gypsy controlling every aspect of their airport. Somaliland is the only place that is 100 percent controlled by Somalilanders. To top it off as I was getting off the plane it's me and elderly people who stayed back, as I could not fathom the circus of the deplaning I witnessed and decided to let people get off before me. Anyway as I am about to get off, this guy comes on the plane and says kumamako ka dheega. I in utter disbelief get off the plane just complete silence and shock. The level of disorganization made me thankful to be a Somalilander." -- Reddit post

Do turks run all the key positions. Is it really like this? Or is this story just made up

I’m sure he’s exaggerating a bit lol but yes a Turkish company has the contract for Mogadishu airport. It’s quite a common occurrence worldwide, for example this company called Serco has the contract for manufacturing, and disarming nuclear weapons for the UK. This same company also runs all of Canadas training schools as well as running all of Australia’s off shore detention facilities. So this is not something new, btw doesn’t DP world control berbera port ? Tad bit hypocritical don’t you think.

Why the f*ck are we called 'Somalians'? I went to mogadishu and the turks don't do that shit, Somalis work the lower and mid level jobs mostly. If anyone would scream at you, it be a Somali.
Fact is, Adden Cadde airport was built exclusively with Turkish money. It's the most sophisticated airport in Somalia, and goes toe to toe with Addis and Nairobi airport. The Turks are a major stakeholder in the airport, which I dont view as a problem.
If you look at the lists of renovations, its expansive, the turks really do care for it. In the future once we are in safer waters we could buy them out and have it be 100% state owned.

''This wouldn't fly in Somaliland'', funny thing is this fake story will be proven real in berbera once the Ethiopian starts exporting the hordes of Oromos they have.

Hargeysa airport looks like a living room after 30 years. No city can compete with xamar once there is extended stability.

Not surprised, their Capital port is also completely owned by the Turks under a shady deal with zero upgrades done to the Port.

The Somalians are incapable of self-reflection, which is why they are obsessed on attacking SL on every single tiny detail while ignoring massive red flags in their country

Why is this in the political section? Some random guys opinions that may or may not have happened. Kinda sad how far you must dig for a win, but you do you I guess.

Hargeisa Airport

Apparently extortion has become a common occurrence in Egal international airport in hargeisa. Khalid Ali sudi a reer hargeisa was an undergrad that wanted to seek higher education abroad. He managed to secure a scholarship in Italy along with a visa. After he booked his flight and was about to depart he was held by SL immigration and was told his visa was "fake" and they demanded he pay 500$ to go fly. How did they know his visa was fake you may ask? One of the immigration officers pulled out his phone(yes his smart phone) and "scanned" the Visa💀 and claimed it was indeed fake and literally proceeded to ask for 500$ to be allowed to catch his flight. Khalid then requested they send an email to the italian embassy in Kenya where he got his visa but they refused and demanded he pay the 500$. While arguing with the officials he missed his scheduled flight and thus lost his 2000$ in flight tickets. They also attempted to confiscate his Somali passport saying it wasn't issued by SL authorities(You can't travel anywhere with SL passport tf💀). Feeling defeated he decided to go home. Many people in the comments mention experiencing similar cases of extortion in the airport.

It's very strange to have the capital airport run by a foreign company and foreign staff.

You can't really compare a port facility to the main airport in the capital city. It's a farce and you can't pretend otherwise.

I'd be interested to see if there's another example of it in the world. The main airport in the captial city of a medium sized country.

He got pissed of that a Turkish woman told him to remove his hat?

In the times I've been there 99% of the people working there were Somali. The Turks only run it, everyone from the immigration officer to the baggage handlers are Somalis.

That's what I noticed. When I entered the airport as I was leaving Somalia the security handlers had Turks, whether it was the bag scanners or the people manning the security counters. I guess they don't see Somalis as trustworthy for handling the outgoing security and they don't care about incoming security to Somalia.
