there are actually plenty of somalis who speak afaan oromo, perhaps you just haven't been exposed to them. just go to eastern oromia where the two people trade, inter marry, and so on.

I have gotten mistaken for being somali so many times, that i'd be rich if i got a dollar for each time it happened. I have literally had random somali elders just walk up to me and start speak afaan somale. lol
