Somalis and socotra

Was carab salaax the rulers of socotra or just normal civilian traders that ended up marrying Somalis and staying there ?

I assumed they was the rulers because socatra and Somalia being allied in the past making sense for them to come into Somalia but traders also work

What you have to understand about Socotra is that before the current modern era where it can be marketed as a tourist spot for it's nice beaches and interesting fauna it was pretty much worthless. Barren for farming, poor pastures and just mostly fish to be had. The native Soqotris would have been poorer than the poorest of the poor in Yemen, Somalia and Oman during the early modern and medieval eras. Nobody took any interest in it as a result despite Somalis, Yemenis and Omanis all being seafarers. The population was overwhelmingly Soqotris who came there probably over a thousand years ago and some slaves and escapees until very recently.

Puntites live in the smaller ones how do you think we ambushed the tanker ships

Is there a book that shows history between Somalis and Soqotris ?
