A couple of nomads grazing on the Tana River is not the same as having ownership of the agriculturally prized land. It was the British colonialists who halted the expansion of Somali nomads to the Tana River.

I found something intriguing in this video: The old Somali guy has boreholes that he uses to restore water, and then he uses that water to pour to plants and trees that his livestock would eat during the dry season. He doesn't need to move around, seeking pastures like Somali nomads back home do. This is a new living standard that can be exported to Somali nomads back home.

He has more livestock (sheep, goats, & camels) than many Somalis back home, yet he is able manage it much better.

There's also Somalis in Nanyuki in Kenya, they've opened up few masajid there and are involved in da'wah throughout the country
