Somalis southern expansion

How far did the somalis expand in Kenya? How was it historically and how is it today?? Very curious as this might be the new frontier for somalis.

The Somali southern expansion ended at River Tana before the British colonial rule in East Africa. After independence the Somali lands in Kenya( NFD) became the North Eastern Province in Kenya.

NFD also included Boran Oromo lands. The new 2010 Kenyan constitution has divided these areas into counties. Each county is headed by a Governor and is represented in parliament by a Senator(in the Senate) and MPs ( in the National assembly). At the local level, each county has its own government headed by the Governor and members of county assembly. This works very well knowing Somalis and their clan politics. At least each clan and subclan is represented very well politically in Kenya. For example, a few months ago the people of Wajir impeached their Governor because they were not happy with his work.

Kenya is a country with law and order. It's not like Ethiopia or Somalia where one qabiil can wake up one morning and decided to wage a war to displace their rivals. Somali nomads in Kenya are confined to Isiolo, Mandera,Wajir and Garissa counties. That is their territory, and it is enough for them. The only further expansion that Somalis can have in Kenya is by settling in major towns and cities for business. Otherwise, don't expect Somali nomads to graze their livestock all the way to Mt. Kilimanjaro or Lake Victoria. That will never happen.
