The American Civil Liberties Union announced Saturday evening that a federal court in New York had issued an emergency stay on President Trump’s executive order banning immigration from seven predominantly Muslim countries. The court’s decision, which will affect people who have been detained in airports, came after the ACLU and other activist groups filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of two Iraqis who were held at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York as a result of the order.

“I hope Trump enjoys losing. He’s going to lose so much we’re going to get sick and tired of his losing,” ACLU national political director Faiz Shakir told Yahoo News shortly after the decision was announced.

If he can get away with banning based on religion and terror rates, what's stopping him from banning based on high crime rates? That way he could effectively ban all non-white countries.

Those people were already processed by the time the executive order was put into action. They were detained and will not be immediately deported for now. Many were in transit and even in mid air. They are in limbo for now my heart goes out to them.

For the next 120 days, Somali-born people even with foreign passports will not allowed entry. Nobody understands this order at this point and many civil liberties groups and immigrant attorney advocacy groups will be fighting this. It affects random people with Somalia in their birth place on their documents.

This law was supposed to stop family reunification, refugee processing, asylum applicants (who may risk immediate deportation), and immigrant visas for the next 120 days. I don't think he should've banned immigrant visas because whoever sponsored them would be responsible for that person.

It only applies to those who were supposed to fly today. Everyone else after today has been banned

According to a copy of the court decision from Judge Ann Donnelly, it will stop officials from removing individuals with approved refugee applications, holders of valid visas and people from the affected countries who have been authorized to enter — pending completion of a hearing on the matter in court. Donnelly also wrote that the lawsuit would have a “strong likelihood of success.”

The judge is saying that the lawsuit to override Trump's order will probs be successful.

Daanyeerka (Taraamb/Trump) should take his L.

Give up @AbdiJohnson

Yes the injunction is on current refugees but the lawsuit is to reverse the order. The judge it will probably happen.

Trump is gonna lose so badly these next 4 years.

Keep crying you insufferable lefty.

He campaigned on it and he won and he will win again next year. Nothing he's doing is surprising.

Why are Sunnis crying when the West finally decided to act? They always make it known how much they hate the West.

I have a moldy tangerine as President
You guys are not looking at the big picture. Trump didn't ban the countries he has business ties with. E.g. Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt,Azerbaijan, etc.
