That is the correct term for a single person in Somali, whereas 'iskaabulo' is borrowed from Italian, as in 'scapolo'.

'Waa raxan soolane ah oo u go'ay caways iyo qoob ka ciyaar'.
Doob means single for both men and women. Slight different in sound.

Oh yes, you are right, but I have got a finger up; let me offer examples at first:
a) Waa doob aan hore u guursan.
b) Waa soolane carmal ah oo kelli nool.

Here is where I draw a distinction between:
a) Bachelor (doob), and
b) Single (soolane).

The former denotes one's marital status, whereas the latter speaks to one's current state, despite one's previous marital status, or not, in other words, one might have been, or not, married at any time in the past.

Food for thought,

I first encountered the word 'Dhulgaras' in a school textbook a long time ago, and I heard it mentioned in an interview later. In my opinion, 'Dhulgaras' is one of those words that were coined but didn't gain widespread usage. Unfortunately, I don't remember the details of the textbook or the interview.

Moreover, I personally know four words that mean 'continent': 'dhulwayne,' 'qaarad,' 'dhulgaras,' and 'degmo.' While I cannot recall the name of the song, there is a famous song from the 1980s that uses the phrase 'degmada afrika'. Additionally, some current journalists use the word 'dhulwayne' to mean 'landmass,' which is synonymous with 'continent.'

Fiiro Gaar Ah.
Dhul = land
Garas = big, mass
Dhulgaras = continent.
