the US has prospered for centuries because the federal gov has been limited through the constitutions,

where has France and russia and england/UK have unlimited power hence why their economies are weak compared to the US even in the 1870s

case in point, donald trump wanted to ban muslims but the courts struck it down because the US has separated executive power and the judiciary but not EU nations, this has limited trumps crazy wild ideas

US is pretty much like a 3rd world country in some regards when you look into the fact that some people can't even afford to go to a hospital when they are ill.

The economic prosperity only seems to benefit a certain top %.

You want to control what people listen to, watch, believe, who they marry, who votes, what level of education they can receive and so on. Might as well have a lock down on everything.

What's the point of having states if everything ultimately gets decided on the federal level.

in 19th century a libertarian was a liberal, but word changed as progressives hijacked the word liberal, the liberals became libertarians to differentiate from the socialist liberals, and the progressives took the word liberal to sound appeal as anti state when they are the biggest pro statist on earth out of any other ideology out there
