£1700 over there is equivalent to £1000 elsewhere.

Eventually there will be more and more jobs lost to robots, so it might be necessary for all or most governments to enact a basic income for all citizens. I think it's worth experimenting with different things before it gets to that point, should it get to that point. We don't want to be caught off guard and descend into civil war and shit because there are far more people than jobs available.

I don't think that will happen, at least not in this century. People said the same thing when the shift from agricultural economies to industrial economies occurred. Jobs will simply change in nature and the work week will get less but people will still work and have jobs.
